Crochethea’s collection of Star Wars amigurumi crochet patterns is growing. Yay! I’ve made Stormtrooper and Baby Yoda amigurumi, this time I made Darth Vader amigurumi. Will there be more amigurumis from other Star Wars characters? Hmm, maybe. Haha.

Notes
Darth Vader amigurumi is about 14 cm (5.5 in).
I used Balinese big ply cotton yarn (light worsted yarn) and Tulip hook no. 4 (2.5 mm).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.
Materials
Light worsted yarn:
– black, gray
8 mm safety eyes
Fiber fill
Tulip hook no. 4 (2.5 mm)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Abbreviations (US Term)
MR = magic ring
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
inc = sc increase (2 sc in next stitch)
dec = sc decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
sl st = slip stitch
Legs (make 2)
Use black
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3-9: sc in each stitch – 7 rounds (12)
Fasten off.
Make one more leg, do not fasten off, continue work the body.
Body
Round 10: 12 sc in first leg, 12 sc in second leg (24)
Round 11: sc in each stitch (24)
Change to gray
Round 12: sc in each stitch (24)
Change to black
Round 13: *6 sc, dec* 3 times (21)
Round 14: sc in each stitch (21)
Fill as you go
Round 15: *5 sc, dec* 3 times (15)
Round 16: sc in each stitch (18)
Round 17: *4 sc, dec* 3 times (15)
Round 18: sc in each stitch (15)
Round 19: *3 sc, dec* 3 times (12)
Fill as you go
Round 20: *1 sc, dec* 4 times (8)
Leave a long tail for sewing.
Head
Use black
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *1 sc, inc, 1 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 5-10: sc in each stitch – 6 rounds (24)
Attach eyes between Round 7 and 8, 4 sc apart.
Round 11: *2 sc, dec* 6 times (18)
Fill as you go
Round 12: * 1 sc, dec* 6 times (12)
Round 13: *dec* 6 times (6)
Fill before close the hole.
Fasten off.
Mask
Use black
6 ch, skip 1 ch, in each ch work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
Leave a tail for sewing.
Arms (make 2)
Use black
Round 1: MR, 4 sc (4)
Round 2: *inc* 4 times (8)
Round 3-7: sc in each stitch – 5 rounds (8)
Fill, do not too firm
Round 8: 6 sc, dec (7)
Round 9: sc in each stitch (7)
Leave a tail for sewing.
Helmet
Use black
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *1 sc, inc, 1 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 5: *5 sc, inc* 4 times (28)
Round 6-7: sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (28)
In next round we make a pointed part of the helmet.
Round 8: 4 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 20 sc (28)
Work next part in row.
Row 9: 1 ch, turn, inc, 15 sc (17)
Row 10: 1 ch, turn, inc, 16 sc (18)
Row 11: 1 ch, turn, 7 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 7 sc (20)
Row 12-13: 1 ch, turn, sc in each stitch – 2 rows (20)
Fasten off and weave in end.
Inner Cape
End each round with sl st, no turn.
Use gray
Round 1: 18 ch, sl st in 1st ch to make a circle. 1 ch, sc in each ch, sl st in 1st sc (18)
Round 2: 1 ch, *5 sc, inc* 3 times, sl st (21)
Round 3: 1 ch, *3 sc, inc, 3 sc* 3 times, sl st (24)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Use black to make a vertical line with sl st from Round 1 to 3. Make 3 more lines, 2-3 sc apart.
Weave in ends.
Outer Cape
Work in row.
Use black
Row 1: 21 ch, skip 1 ch, sc in each ch (20)
Row 2-7: 1 ch, turn, 20 sc – 6 rows (20)
Row 8: 1 ch, turn, dec, 16 sc, dec, (18)
Row 9: 1 ch, turn, sc in each stitch (18)
Row 10: 1 ch, turn, 4 sc, dec, 6 sc, dec, 4 sc (16)
Row 11: 1 ch, turn, sc in each stitch (16)
Row 12: 1 ch, turn, dec, 3 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec, 3 sc, dec (12)
Row 13: 1 ch, turn, sc in each stitch (12)
Row 14: 1 ch, turn, dec, 1 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec (8)
Sc around the four sides of outer cape, add 1 ch in each corner.
Fasten off.
Weave a thread of yarn in last row as a cord.
Attachment
- Sew mask to the head below the eyes at Round 9-10. Embroider three corners of the mask with gray yarn.
- Put inner cape on the body. Sew body to head.
- Sew arms at Round 9 of body.
- Sew helmet onto the head.
- Tie outer cape to the neck. Hide the remaining yarn.
