Cute Bee amigurumi crochet pattern is already on the Crochethea blog! Yay! How come there are so many bees amigurumi? That’s because I got an order, so I can take a group photos. These cute bees have already flown to their foster home. And after that it flew somewhere else to a new home. I’m really happy that my amigurumi can travel around the archipelago and even abroad.

Notes

The length of cute bee amigurumi is about 6 cm (2.4 in) and the diameter is about 4 cm (1.6 in).
I used small ply Balinese cotton yarn (sport yarn, #2 Fine) and Tulip hook no. 2 (2 mm).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.
Use marker to mark the start/end of the round.

Materials

Sport yarns: yellow, black, white, pink
Black embroidery thread
6 mm safety eyes
Fiber fill
Tulip hook no. 2 (2 mm)
Tapestry needle
Marker
Scissors

Abbreviations (US Term)

MR = magic ring
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
inc = sc increase (2 sc in next stitch)
dec = sc decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
sl st = slip stitch

Antennae

Use black
20 ch.
Leave a tail about 12 cm (4.7 in) before and after making chains.

Body

Use yellow
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *1 sc, inc, 1 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 5: *3 sc, inc* 6 times (30)
Round 6-7:  sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (30)
Attach eyes between Round 3 and 4, 7 sc apart.
Add antennae between Round 4 and 5, 2 sc apart.

How to add antennae:

  • Thread ends of antennae through top of head so that ends are sticking outwards about 2 stitches apart.
  • Using tapestry needle, weave yarn end through 5th chain so the tip of antennae is folded.
  • Weave yarn end down through center of chains.
  • When the bottom of the antenna has been reached, weave yarn end through head so that it is inside the body .
  • Repeat the same process with the other antennae.
  • Once both yarn ends are inside the body, tie them in a knot to secure them in place.

Continue to work the body.
Change to black
Round 8-10: sc in each stitch – 3 rounds (30)
Change to yellow
Round 11-14: sc in each stitch – 4 rounds (30)
Change to black
Round 15-16: sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (30)
Round 17: *dec, 3 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 18: *dec, 2 sc* 6 times (18)
Fill as you go
Round 19: *dec, 1 sc* 6 times (12)
Round 20: *dec, 1 sc* 4 times (8)
Fill again
Round 21: *dec, 2 sc* 2 times (6)
Fasten off.
Embroider the cheek with pink for blush.
Embroider a mouth with black thread.

Wings (make 2)

Use white
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 6 times, sl st (18)
Leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the wings at the back at Round 10-11 about 4 stitches apart.
