Hi! I’m back with one of characters from Spirited Away movie, it’s Chihiro! I thought it’s not fair if I made No Face amigurumi crochet pattern, but not the main character of this movie. So here it is, I made Chihiro amigurumi in mini version.

I can’t find my No Face amigurumi. As I can remember I put it in a container box when I moved to a new house. But I saw it nowhere. That’s why I can’t take a picture of Chihiro and No Face together. Well, maybe I need to crochet a new one.

Crochet Pattern

Notes

Chihiro amigurumi is about 9 cm (3.5 inches) tall.
I used small ply Balinese cotton yarn (sport yarn, #2 Fine) and Tulip hook no. 2 (2 mm). The similar yarn you can use is Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton; 50 g (1.8 oz); 125 m (137yds)).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.

Materials

Sport yarns:
– skin tone, yellow, pink, green, white, brown, violet
Polyester fill
2 mm crochet hook
7 mm safety eyes
Tapestry needle
Marker
Scissors
Pins
Fiber glue

Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR = magic ring
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
inc = sc increase (2 sc in next stitch)
dec = sc decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
BLO = back loop only
FLO = front loop only
sl st = slip stitch

First Leg

Use yellow
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *2 sc, inc* 2 times (8)
Change to skin tone
Round 3: BLO *3 sc, inc* 2 times (10)
Round 4: sc in each stitch (10)
Fasten off.

Second Leg

Round 1-3: follow the step as first leg
Round 4: 9 sc, change to pink, 1 sc (10)
Do not cut the yarn, continue to work the body.

Body

Round 5: 2 ch, 10 sc in 1^st leg, sc in 2 ch, 10 sc in 2^nd leg, sc in 2 ch (24)

Round 6: sc in each stitch (24)
Change to white
Round 7: sc in each stitch (24)
Round 8: *6 sc, dec* 3 times (21)
Round 9: sc in each stitch (21)
Fill as you go
Round 10: *5 sc, dec* 3 times (18)
Change to green
Round 11: sc in each stitch (18)
Round 12: *dec, 4 sc* 3 times (15)
Change to white
Round 13: *dec, 3 sc* 3 times (12)
Fill as you go
Change to green
Round 14: *1 sc, dec, 1 sc* 3 times (9)
Continue to work the head.

Head

Change to skin tone
Round 1: *inc* 9 times (18)
Round 2: *1 sc, inc* 9 times (27)
Round 3: *8 sc, inc* 3 times (30)
Round 4-10: sc in each stitch – 7 rounds (30)
Attach eyes between Round 6 and 7, 5 sc apart.

Round 11: *dec, 3 sc* 6 times (24)
Fill as you go
Round 12: *dec, 2 sc* 6 times (18)
Round 13: *dec, 1 sc* 6 times (12)
Round 14: *dec* 6 times (6)
Fill before close the hole.
Fasten off.

Arms (make 2)

Use skin tone
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2-3: sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (6)
Change to white
Round 4: sc in each stitch (6)
Change to green
Round 5: sc in each stitch (6)
sl st, change to white, turn, 2 sc, sl st.
No need to fill the arms.
Leave a tail for sewing.
Sew arms on Round 12 of the body.

Hair

Use brown
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: BLO *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *1 sc, inc, 1 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 5: *3 sc, inc* 6 times (30)
Round 6: *9 sc, inc* 3 times (33)
Round 7-10: sc in each stitch – 4 rounds (33)
Round 11: in this round we make the bangs strands (S).
8 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc,
S1: 8 ch, skip 1 ch, 7 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
S2: 4 ch, skip 1 ch, 3 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
S3: 5 ch, skip 1 ch, 4 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
S4-5: *6 ch, skip 1 ch, 5 sc, sl st in next 2 sts* 2 times
S6: 5 ch, skip 1 ch, 4 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
S7: 4 ch, skip 1 ch, 3 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
S8: 8 ch, skip 1 ch, 7 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc
Leave a tail for sewing.

Ponytail Strands

FLO in Round 3 of the hair
15 ch, skip 1 ch, 14 sc, sl st in next 2 sts
Make 6 strands of ponytail.
Fasten off.

Tips: the ponytail should not be too curly, I suggest to make ch with bigger hook

Hair Band

Use violet
16 ch, skip 1 ch, 15 sc
Leave a tail for sewing.

Hair Attachment

1. Place the hair onto the head, secure it with pins then sew it.

2. Glue the bangs to the head.
3. Sew the hair band around the ponytail.
