Zenitsu Crochet Pattern

I finally finished Zenitsu crochet pattern! Yay! The members of the main group of Demon Slayer characters are complete: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. Even though there was quite a long delay in making each pattern, I was really happy to be able to make all four.

I made it as simple as possible for this Zenitsu crochet pattern. I didn’t add white accents to the sleeves so that the color change would be simpler. The coat still has white accents. Please pay attention to the color changes carefully. I have made a pattern in diagram to make it easier to understand. Hope it is useful.

Notes

Zenitsu amigurumi is about 8.5 cm (3.35 inches) tall.
I used small ply Balinese cotton yarn (sport yarn, #2 Fine) and Tulip hook no. 3 (2.25 mm).
The similar yarn you can use is Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton; 50 g (1.8 oz); 125 m (137 yds)).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.

Materials

Sport yarns:
– beige, black, yellow, orange, white
(I used less than a 125m/50g ball of each color when making this project)
2.25 mm crochet hook
7 mm safety eyes
Polyester fill
Tapestry needle
Pins
Marker
Scissors
Adhesive

Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR = magic ring
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
inc = sc increase (2 sc in next stitch)
dec = sc decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
BLO = back loop only
FLO = front loop only
sl st = slip stitch

Legs (make 2)

Use black
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *2 sc, inc* 2 times (8)
Change to yellow
Round 3: *3 sc, inc* 2 times (10)
Change to black
Round 4: sc in each stitch (10)
Cut the yarn, make the 2^nd leg. Don’t cut the yarn on 2^nd leg, continue to work the body.

Body

Round 5: 2 ch, 10 sc in 1^st leg, sc in 2 ch, 10 sc in 2^nd leg, sc in 2 ch (24)

Round 6-7: sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (24)
Change to white
Round 8: BLO *6 sc, dec* 3 times (21)
Change to black
Round 9: BLO sc in each stitch (21)
Fill as you go
Round 10: *5 sc, dec* 3 times (18)
Round 11: sc in each stitch (18)
Round 12: *dec, 4 sc* 3 times (15)
Round 13: *dec, 3 sc* 3 times (12)
Change to white
Round 14: *1 sc, dec, 1 sc* 3 times (9)
Continue to work the head.

Head

Use beige
Round 1: *inc* 9 times (18)
Round 2: *1 sc, inc* 9 times (27)
Round 3: *8 sc, inc* 3 times (30)
Round 4-10: sc in each stitch – 7 rounds (30)
Attach eyes between Round 6 and 7, 5 sc apart.

Round 11: *dec, 3 sc* 6 times (24)
Fill as you go
Round 12: *dec, 2 sc* 6 times (18)
Round 13: *dec, 1 sc* 6 times (12)
Round 14: *dec* 6 times (6)
Fill before close the hole. Fasten off.
Use white to embroider the buttons on the body.

Arms (make 2)

Use beige
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Change to orange
Round 2-3: sc in each stitch(6)
Change to yellow
Round 4-5: sc in each stitch (6)
sl st, turn, 2 sc, sl st.
No need to fill the arms.
Leave a long end for sewing.

Coat

Work in rows without turning ch. Pay attention to the color changes.

Row 1: orange 25 ch, skip 1 ch, 24 sc (24)
Row 2: turn, orange 1 sc, *white 1 sc, orange 5 sc* 3 times, white 1 sc, orange 4 sc (24)
Row 3: turn, orange sc in each stitch (24)
Row 4: turn, orange 4 sc, *white 1 sc, orange 5 sc* 3 times, white 1 sc, orange 1 sc (24)
Row 5: turn, yellow 6 sc, dec, 8 sc, dec, 6 sc (22)
Row 6: turn, yellow 1 sc, white 1 sc, yellow 4 sc, white 1 sc, yellow 5 sc, *white 1 sc, yellow 4 sc* 2 times (22)
Row 7: turn, yellow 4 sc, dec, 10 sc, dec, 4 sc (20)

Hair

Use yellow
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Next we work the strands (S), consist of 2 layers. S1-9 in 1^st layer, S10-18 in 2^nd layer.
Pay attention to the color changes on each strand.
S1: 9 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 9 hdc, skip 1 st, sl st (11)

S2-5: *11 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 11 hdc, skip 1 st, sl st* 4 times (13)
S6: 9 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 9 hdc, skip 1 st, sl st (11)
S7-9: *4 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 4 hdc, skip 1 st, sl st* 3 times (6)

For each strand of the 2^nd layer, end with FLO sl st in the skipped st from 1^st layer.
S10: 10 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 7 hdc, 3 dc, FLO sl st in 2^nd skipped st (12)

S11-14: *11 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 11 hdc, FLO sl st* 4 times (13)
S15: 6 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 6 hdc, FLO sl st (8)
S16-17: *5 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 5 hdc, FLO sl st* 2 times (7)
S18: 6 ch, orange 5 ch, skip 3 ch, 2 hdc, yellow 6 hdc, FLO sl st (8)
Fasten off (or leave a long end for sewing).

Assembling

Put on the coat to the body. Sew the upper coat to the body.

Sew the arms to the coat.

Put hair onto the head. Use pins to arrange the position of the hair. Pin the 1^st layer strands with a gap between the strands, then close the gaps with the 2^nd layer strands. S7-9 and S15-18 as the bangs. If you are pleased with the position, add adhesive to the hair strands one by one.
