Have you watched this popular drama series? Squid Game was released on Netflix September 17, 2021 and draw so much attention worldwide. I made the soldiers amigurumi of this series. You can read the free crochet pattern in this post.

The series revolves around a contest in which 456 players, all drawn from different walks of life but each deeply in debt, play a series of games with deadly penalties if they lose for the chance to win a ₩45.6 billion prize.

The players are made to wear green tracksuits and are kept under watch at all times by masked guards in pink jumpsuits, with the games overseen by the Front Man, who wears a black mask and black uniform.

The games are quite simple, which is a series of childhood games in South Korea. The interesting part of this film is the various characters of players who compete to risk their lives to win the brutal game.

In the original character, the color of the soldier jumpsuit is dark pink, so many call it the pink soldier, but there are also those who call it the red soldier. I used red as the main color in this pattern, you can adjust the color as you want.

Notes

Squid Game soldier amigurumi is about 9.5 cm tall.
I used small ply Balinese cotton yarn (8 ply sport yarn) and Tulip hook no. 2 (2 mm).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.

Use version 1 of body pattern to make the zipper line with sc, version 2 of body pattern without sc the zipper line (you can embroider the line or leave it just like that).

Fill as you go
Round 11: *dec, 1 sc* 6 times (12)

Fasten off.

Hoodie

Use red
Round 1: MR, 7 sc (7)
Round 2: *inc* 7 times (14)
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* 7 times (21)

Round 5-9: sc in each stitch – 5 rounds (28)
Leave a tail for sewing.

Arms (make 2)

Use black
Round 1: MR, 5 sc (5)

Change to red
Round 3-6: sc in each stitch – 4 rounds (6)
No need to fill the arms.
Press the opening with you finger and sc together both opposite sides 2 times.
Leave a tail for sewing.

Legs (make 2)

Use black
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *2sc, inc* 2 times (8)
Change to red
Round 3-6: sc in each stitch – 4 rounds (8)
Fasten off.
Make 2^nd leg, add 2 sc on Round 6.
Do not cut the yarn, continue to make the body (version 1 or 2).

Body (version 1)

Round 7: 2 ch, 8 sc in 1^st leg, 2 sc in ch, 8 sc in 2^nd leg, 2 sc in ch (20)

Leave a tail before make 1^st ch.
Square: 17 ch.
Circle: 16 ch.

You can make ch as long as needed.

Attachment

1. Sew the symbol to the face. Use pins to help positioning the symbol. You just need to sew the edges of triangle and square symbol.

2. Sew hoodie onto the head.
3. Sew body to the head.
4. Sew arms to the Round 13 of the body.
