Finally, Frieren amigurumi crochet pattern is complete! Yay! I’ve been wanting to make the Frieren crochet pattern since Season 1, but I only just got around to it now. The result is so cute, it’s worth the extra work, hehe. The other characters will follow soon.

Notes

Frieren amigurumi is about 8.5 cm (3.35 inches) tall.
I used small ply Balinese cotton yarn (sport yarn, #2 Fine) and Tulip hook no. 3 (2.25 mm).
The similar yarn you can use is Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton; 50 g (1.8 oz); 125 m (137 yds)).
Its size may vary according to the materials you used.

Materials

Sport yarns:
– beige, brown, black, white, gold, light gray
(I used less than a 125m/50g ball of each color when making this project)
2.25 mm crochet hook
7 mm safety eyes
Polyester fill
Tapestry needle
Marker
Pins
Scissors
Adhesive/fiber glue

Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR = magic ring
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
inc = sc increase (2 sc in next stitch)
dec = sc decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
BLO = back loop only
FLO = front loop only
sl st = slip stitch

Legs (make 2)

Use brown
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *2 sc, inc* 2 times (8)
Change to black
Round 3: *3 sc, inc* 2 times (10)
Round 4: sc in each stitch (10)
Cut the yarn.
Make 2nd leg, don’t cut the yarn, continue to work the body.

Body

Round 5: 2 ch, sc in each st of 1st leg, sc in 2 ch, sc in each st of 2nd leg, sc in the opposite side of 2 ch (24)

Round 6: sc in each stitch (24)
Round 7: *6 sc, dec* 3 times (21)
Change to white
Round 8: sc in each stitch (21)
Change to black
Round 9: BLO sc in each stitch (21)
Change to white
Round 10: *5 sc, dec* 3 times (18)
Change to black
Round 11: sc in each stitch (18)
Fill as you go
Change to white
Round 12: *dec, 4 sc* 3 times (15)
Round 13: *dec, 3 sc* 3 times (12)
Round 14: 1 sc, dec, 1 sc* 3 times (9)
Continue to work the head.

Head

Change to beige
Round 1: *inc* 9 times (18)
Round 2: *1 sc, inc* 9 times (27)
Round 3: *8 sc, inc* 3 times (30)
Round 4-10: sc in each stitch – 7 rounds (30)
Attach eyes between Round 6 and 7, 5 sc apart.

Round 11: *dec, 3 sc* 6 times (24)
Fill as you go
Round 12: *dec, 2 sc* 6 times (18)
Round 13: *dec, 1 sc* 6 times (12)
Round 14: *dec* 6 times (6)
Fill before close the hole.
Fasten off.

Skirt

Use white
Round 1: FLO in Round 8 of the body *2 sc, inc* 7 times (28)

Round 2-3: sc in each stitch – 2 rounds (28)
Change to gold
Round 4: sc in each stitch (28)
Fasten off.

Arms (make 2)

Use beige
Round 1: MR 6 sc (6)
Change to gold
Round 2: sc in each stitch 6)
Change to white
Round 3-5: sc in each stitch – 3 rounds (6)
sl st, turn, 2 sc, sl st
No need to fill the arms.
Leave a long end for sewing.

Ears (make 2)

Use beige
4 ch, skip 1 ch, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc (3)
Leave a long end for sewing.

Cloak

Use white
Work in rows
Row 1: 19 ch, skip 1 ch, sc in each stitch (18)
Row 2: 1 ch, turn, 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 6 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc (22)
Row 3: 1 ch, turn, 4 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 4 sc (24)
Row 4: 1 ch, turn, 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 2 sc (28)
Fasten off.

Use gold
Starting from the top end, sc around all three sides: the sides, and the bottom, then slip stitch along the top edge.
Leave a long end for sewing.
Tips: At the bottom ends, fill one stitch with 3 sc to form a corner.

Hair

Use light gray
Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
Round 2: *inc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: BLO *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *1 sc, inc, 1 sc* 6 times (24)
Round 5: *3 sc, inc* 6 times (30)
Round 6: *9 sc, inc* 3 times (33)
Round 7-10: sc in each stitch – 4 rounds (33)
Round 11: in this round we make the bangs strands (S)
12 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc
S1: 14 ch, skip 1 ch, 2 sl st, 11 sc, sl st in next st (13)
S2-3: *9 ch, skip 1 ch, 2 sl st, 6 sc, sl st in next st* 2 times (8)
S4: 14 ch, skip 1 ch, 2 sl st, 11 sc, sl st in next stitch (13)
1 sc, 1 hdc, 11 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 sc
Fasten off (or leave a long end for sewing).

Pigtails (make 2)

Use light gray
Strand 1-3: 19 ch, skip 1 ch, sc in each stitch (18)
Leave a long end for sewing.

Attachment

  1. Sew the arms in Round 12 of the body.
  2. Place the cloak over the body and sew it down the front.

  1. Temporarily pin the hair to the head to position the ears. Pin the ears at eye level in front of the hairline. Once they’re securely in place, sew the ears on.
  1. Pin the hair to the head and use pins to position the bangs. Pin the short bangs to the left and right sides, then use the long bangs to cover the ends of the short bangs. Glue the hair and bangs together once they’re securely in place.
  1. Stack the three strands of pigtail together and secure them to the head with pins. Once they’re securely in place, sew the pigtails into place.
